News > Motoring Journalists Put Nissan Leaf In Top Four in 2018 World Green Car Category
More than 82 motoring journalists from across the world were asked to vote for several different categories of vehicles for the World Car Of The Year Awards. The new Nissan LEAF was in the top ten for the Car of the Year category, and in the top four for the World Green Car category.
One of the journalists, Paul Gover from Australia, said the world is moving at a very fast pace towards all electric cars, and the LEAF is one of the best. He went on to say, “The LEAF is a car you have to look at when you think of the future of motoring.”
No car gets anywhere near being one of the finalists for these awards unless it’s worthy, and it seems the 82 journalists who voted for the LEAF think it is. The awards organizers arranged drive events for the journalists, and then held secret ballots among them.
It’s the 14th year of The World Car of The Year Awards, and Nissan have been finalists in five of them. The LEAF was awarded Car of The Year in 2011. The GT-R made the finals in 2009, and the QASHQAI in 2008 and 2011. In the current year, the Nissan Micra is a finalist in the World Urban Car category.
The awards also honour performance cars, luxury cars, and car design, with the winners being announced and the prizes awarded at the New York International Auto Show.
